In Year 2 we are currently devoting some time to preparing entries for the annual Mayor's Writing Competition. This year, entries have to somewhere contain the word 'window'. 2M and 2F combined to first brainstorm windows, what they look like, what we see out of them and so on. We then looked the book "Window" by Jeannie Baker as inspiration for our writing. We discussed the features of a narrative (the title, the introduction, then the body - events and complication, then finally the conclusion). We discussed using interesting and attention grabbing words, especially adjectives and verbs. Students have made a terrific start with their stories and we will finalise the pieces next week. We will also illustrate the stories. Good luck Broulee Public School Year 2's!
A note from Miss Taylor..
Our class blog will be added to at the end of every week. Take a few minutes to check out the entries with your child and discuss what they, along with their classmates, have been learning in class over the previous week. I hope you enjoy this special account of your child's time in 2M. Positive and encouraging comments are warmly welcome! Archives
