Above, Tahlia demonstrates how to sit at the Synthetic Phonics testing table - both hands are off the booklet, with palms placed flat on the table. Below, Sophie demonstrates how to position yourself if you think you may get b's and d's confused during testing. She has her two thumbs and fists in the 'bed' configuration to remind her which way each letter faces.
Below is a reading group enjoying a text. This is such a fun part of the Synthetic Phonics Program. We throughly discuss a book based on it's title and it's front cover illustration. We make predictions and put forward opinions and thoughts on what may happen in the text. Then we read the blurb, followed by the whole text. We then respond to comprehension questions about the text and in subsequent sessions, re read and innovate on the text.
A note from Miss Taylor..
Our class blog will be added to at the end of every week. Take a few minutes to check out the entries with your child and discuss what they, along with their classmates, have been learning in class over the previous week. I hope you enjoy this special account of your child's time in 2M. Positive and encouraging comments are warmly welcome!
