Whenever Ms. Sorrensen takes 2M, she jumps at the opportunity to carry out a science investigation with the students. Last week, Ms Sorrensen and 2M examined the effect of warm water on skittles! Students placed different coloured skittles in a circle around a plate then poured warm water over the plate and waited. Before setting up the experiment, students had to make predictions about what they think might happen to the skittles when they reacted with the water. Ms Sorrensen lead a discussion, explained the activity then the class carried out the activity. The students completed practical reports listing their predictions, what equipment they used and what actually happened. Some of these reports earned a Gold Principal's Sticker (come check them out - they are hanging up on our classroom wall in our science display area). Students marvelled at the diffused rainbow effect created by the water leaching the colour from the outter skittles coating. Take a look at the incredible swirling patterns...
A note from Miss Taylor..
Our class blog will be added to at the end of every week. Take a few minutes to check out the entries with your child and discuss what they, along with their classmates, have been learning in class over the previous week. I hope you enjoy this special account of your child's time in 2M. Positive and encouraging comments are warmly welcome! Archives
