Isaac holds up some very thorough homework he has undertaken recently for our science unit - All Mixed Up! Issac explored what mixtures he had in his home and wrote about them, then presented them to the class. What a great investigative effort, Issac!

In athletics training, Abbey and Sophie show us how a batton is passed from one athlete to another in a relay race. We are becoming very ready for our week 9 carnival coming up soon!
Above, Tahlia demonstrates how to sit at the Synthetic Phonics testing table - both hands are off the booklet, with palms placed flat on the table. Below, Sophie demonstrates how to position yourself if you think you may get b's and d's confused during testing. She has her two thumbs and fists in the 'bed' configuration to remind her which way each letter faces. Below is a reading group enjoying a text. This is such a fun part of the Synthetic Phonics Program. We throughly discuss a book based on it's title and it's front cover illustration. We make predictions and put forward opinions and thoughts on what may happen in the text. Then we read the blurb, followed by the whole text. We then respond to comprehension questions about the text and in subsequent sessions, re read and innovate on the text.
A little while ago, 6D came to our class to present us with two kindness posters for us to hang up in our classroom and keep. We were so thrilled that 6D would do this for our class and indeed the whole school, we decided to do something for them to say 'thanks'. 2M decided upon a popcorn visit! We got hold of a popcorn machine and had heaps of fun making 4 bowls of popcorn to take down to 6D and surprise them just before Thursday recess last week. The senior students were at first wondering what on earth 2M were doing down their end, then when we announced what we were doing, they were very very happy! We all shared popcorn and smiles together. Our class commented afterward how good it felt to do something for someone else in our school. What a great afternoon of kindness, thanks and fun! Below is the special thank you poster we prepared and gave to 6D...
This week we welcomed Mr. Syd into our classroom to help with reading. Mr. Syd will be coming in for an hour each Tuesday morning to listen to the students read to him. A warm thank you to Mr. Syd for volunteering his time to our class.
Congratulations to these 2M merit award winners! Well done to Harper for always displaying careful listening skills during instruction times, to Sophie for her well thought out contributions to her group pre-reading and post-reading sessions and to Oscar for an excellent science prac report describing mixtures and their appearances. Super work, children!

A note from Miss Taylor..
Our class blog will be added to at the end of every week. Take a few minutes to check out the entries with your child and discuss what they, along with their classmates, have been learning in class over the previous week. I hope you enjoy this special account of your child's time in 2M. Positive and encouraging comments are warmly welcome! Archives
